DEPARTMENT OF SOCIOLOGY

PREFACE: Department of Sociology was established in the year 2000 with the establishment of college. The basic objective was to cater the needs of the education of Sociology and allied subject in  Naldurg area.

Sociology is the activity of buying and selling of goods and services, especially on a large scale. The system includes legal, economic, political, social, cultural and technological systems that are in operation in any country or internationally. Thus, sociology is a system or an environment that affects the social work prospects of economies.

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT :

Arts, Science & Commerce College, Naldurg are the premier college in the region. The college was established in 1971. The Department of Sociology on June 2000.

At present, Mr. B. S. Sawate is working as a Head of Department from 09 February 2009. 

COURSES OFFERED: -

Department of Sociology runs three year degree course of B.A. Affiliated to Dr. B.A.M. University Aurangabad. The course and programmers are prepared by the Board of studies of the university and college follows the same. The syllabus was changed in the year 2009-10 for first year. Second year syllabus was changed in 2010-11 and Third year from 2011-12. University has introduced semester system for B.A.F.Y. from 2009-10 and progressively to S.Y and T.Y.

Teachers in the department communicate their problems and suggestions regarding syllabus to the members of the University board of studies whenever necessary.

ADMISSION CRITERIA:

Majority of the students admitted to this college are from rural area and economically backward background. They are not much aware of higher education. In this conditions college has to inspire them and help them for introduction of higher education. Students are admitted as per the norms and conditions laid down by the University Dr. B. A. M. U. Aurangabad.
