Department of Chemistry
About the department
With the great vision the Department of chemistry was established on 1971 in Art, Science and
Commerce College, Naldurg by some noble dreamers. The Department of Chemistry runs Under
Graduate programme (B.Sc.). Department of Chemistry is one of the largest departments in the
college for its strength, results and research activities. At present the department is running with five
permanent faculty members and three supportive lab attendants. There are five faculty members in the
department out of which two are Ph.D. degree holders and three have registered for Ph.D. In the academic
year 2020-2021 total students enrolled in F.Y. B.Sc. /S.Y B.Sc. /T.Y. B. Sc. classes are 550.
The department is fully equipped with instruments, equipment, and reference books for the
students of UG. In addition to the theory and practical classes, there are conducted co-curricular
activities by the department for the betterment of the students such as research projects, seminars,
group discussions, industrial visits, guest lecturers, etc. It also conducts different Certificate Courses
for further up-gradation of students’ knowledge.
Our faculty members published their research papers in national and international journals and
proceedings of conferences. Faculty members actively engaged in research, few of them submitted
their proposals for major/minor research projects funded by DST/UGC/State/University. Our faculty
members carry research work in the field of Nano-Materials, High Performance Polymers, Schiff base
complex study, Organic Synthesis, Material Synthesis, Green Chemistry, Medicinal and
Pharmaceutical Chemistry…etc. to do frontier research in a broad range of disciplines.
Department has an active collaboration with the various Industries and Laboratories for
teaching and research activities. Most of our students are well settled in various fields of society
like education, administration and the public sector. Students from our department get placed in various
reputed multinational companies, institutes through campus and off campus drive. The department
also provides training to the students to enhance their soft skills and lab handling skills through
various short term courses.
“Being the head of this department I wish grand success of our students in life.”
Aim:
To provide quality education to all classes of the society and to impart value based chemistry
education to make the students competent, accountable & civilized citizen.
Objectives:
To encourage the students to apply the knowledge of chemistry for the benefit of society.
To develop strategic collaboration with chemical industries by means of projects this uplifts the
interest and awareness of students in chemistry.
To provide caliber human resources having a skill for industries.
