The Department of English was established in 1971.
English as a subject was introduced since establishment both as Compulsory and Optional subject. As a part of curriculum, English as a Compulsory Subject caters the basic need of students that of learning a foreign language for communication. English as an optional subject provides the students an opportunity and scope for developing their potentials as literary writer, creator, Freelance Writer, Journalist, Column Writer, Translator or any such other.
The Department initially included two faculties viz. Prof. Kewadkar and Prof S. V. Nagure. These senior and sincere faculty members built a foundation of the department. Devoted to their work, both of them established a discipline, well mannerism and student friendly atmosphere in the department. Prof. S. V. Nagure retired in 1997 whereas Prof. Kewadkar in the year 1998. They were superseded by Mr. R. B. Chougule and Mr. M. C. Zade, both in the year 1998.
The principles established by these elderly faculty members continued to be cherished. Besides, the joining of Mr. R. B. Chougule and Mr. M. C. Zade in the department initiated research activities in the department. Both the faculty members were engaged in research activities; including research for Ph. D. Mr. R. B. Chougule was awarded Ph. D. in the year 2004 and Mr. M. C. Zade in the year 2008. In the meanwhile Dr. Chougule R. B. resigned from his service, as he was selected in the Department of English, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Subcampus, Osmanabad. The vacancy due to his resignation was filled by an alumnus of the department, Mr. T.L. Dabde. Later in the year 2007, Mr. A. G. Hangargekar, another alumnus of the department, joined the department as a full time faculty. Mr. Dabde T.L. is awarded the degree Ph. D. in 2021 and Mr. Hangargekar A. G. is pursuing his research for Ph. D.
Presently, the department undertakes various research activities, such as Research Guidance, participation in the conferences, seminars, workshops and other related courses, presentation of research papers in the conferences as well as publication of research papers in books and journals.
The faculty member, Dr. Manoj C. Zade is a research Guide recognized by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. Under his guidance 07 research scholars have been awarded degree of Ph. D. and 04 students are carrying out their research leading to Ph. D. It is worth mentioning here that one of his research students was of foreign origin. Dr. T. L. Dabde is also a research guide recognized by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad.
Dr. Manoj C. Zade has completed one Minor research project, sanctioned by UGC.

Dr. Manoj C. Zade was an elected member of board of studies of English, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad from 2011 to 2016.
