Department of Political Science Preface
Department of Political Science was established in the year 1971 with the establishment of college. The basic objective was to cater the needs of the education of Political Science and allied subject in Naldurg area.
The education of Political Science has got an importance in all times because it provides education about Government and politics. it helps to recognize the citizens about the Political system and Culture. This subject plays major role in political, social and Cultural background. It helps to develop the study in general knowledge of students to achieve the goal in the competitive examination.
This department is one of the important Departments at college campus. Dr. V. G. Kulkarni and Prof. K. S. Choudhari were the Lecturers in the Department of Political Science. Prof. K. S. Choudhari retired in 2006 and Dr. V. G. Kulkarni retired in 2007. Dr. Nilesh Gokul Shere is appointed on 9th Feb. 2009 as the Head of the department. The first post is full time and another one post on CHB.
Every year various activities are organized by the Department of Political Science in which seminars, essay competitions, group discussions, poster competitions, educational tours etc. are implemented and from 2017 onwards, the Gram Panchayat in Naldurg area is surveyed by the students. Awareness is created by celebrating Constitution Day, Voters Day and also information about voter machine VV PAD machine was given to the students. So far, the names of 548 students have been registered in the voter list by the political science department. The Youth Information Messenger program was conducted under an initiative of the Government of Maharashtra. Through this program, information of various schemes of the government was disseminated to 727 people from different villages. The government took note of this work and eight students received their certificates from the government. Not only this, after the elections to the Legislative Councils of the country and various states, local body elections are also discussed in groups and various political issues in the country are discussed with the students so that the students are aware of contemporary political issues. Attempts are made through this department to solve the questions that have arisen in the minds of the students by holding discussions on political issues when they arise.
